During the Easter holidays (2-4 April 2012), Animate Greenwich members are invited to join us for another special project, called Making Waves. During a three day course, Animate Greenwich will create music inspired by the sea and collections at the National Maritime Museum. This will be performed live, with local dancers taking part in Big Dance 2012, at the UNESCO Youth Summit on 28thJune.

The Team discussing the Out comes of the research day looking at
· The focus for the school visits to the National Maritime Museum and the inspiration for the music and dance pieces will be the Voyagers Gallery which features a digital wave and over 200 objects grouped according to 6 different emotions (Anticipation, love, sadness, aggression, pride and joy) http://www.rmg.co.uk/visit/exhibitions/voyagers/
· The Animate Orchestra, working with Jason Rowlands during the Easter holidays, will compose 3 minute music pieces for each of the above emotions. This will be the music that the dance pieces are choreographed to. A sixth music piece for sadness will be played live at the performance on 28th June
Research Day
The main aim of the day is to decide what the children will focus on when they come on their visit to the NMM and how this will shape the creative outcomes
Making Waves: In a nut shell
150 children and their teachers from five Greenwich primary schools, and 40 young musicians from Greenwich and Lewisham (aged 9-14 years) will work with dance and music practitioners and museum staff to compose original music to which dance pieces will be choreographed and performed….
